On Thursday, defeating the scorching sun, hundreds of fans thronged the capital's Connaught Place area to have a look at Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, arrived to launch a new boutique of Swiss watch brand Tissot and its new range of watches.The crowd, waiting for almost an hour in the extreme heat to have a glimpse of the 23 year old actress was pressurized so much that even the elaborate flower decorations outside the store tear apart.

Deepika did not stay at the Swiss watch showroom more than 20 minutes and said about the new collection Sea-Touch by Tissot besides taking a few questions about her forthcoming film "Love Aaj Kal".

She said that, "'Love Aaj Kal' is an out and out romantic film. It talks about relations of the earlier times and relationships today. It talks of love that used to be and love that is today. It is a complete family film. I just hope that it does well since it is a great film and very special to me".

According to another legend, Lord Yama, the God of death, had a sister called Yamuna. It was customary of Yamuna to tie a rakhi on her brother's wrist on every Sharavan Purnima. Since then, it became an accepted norm for sisters to tie a rakhi on their brother’s wrist.

Yet another account has it that Draupadi had tied a strip of her sari to Krishna's finger to stop bleeding when he hurt himself by hurling the Sudarshan Chakra against Shishupala. Later when Draupadi was subjected to utter humiliation by the Kauravas, Krishna came forward and protected her from the disgrace.

There are many other legends in Indian folklore that mention about sisters tying rakhis to their brothers. Though rakhi history is uncertain with respect to when this tradition actually started, In modern times, it has gained tremendous acceptance and is joyfully celebrated in all parts of the country and by the Indian Diaspora around the world.
